Integrating Digital Technologies and Social Media in Education

In today’s educational landscape, digital technologies and social media have become increasingly important tools for teaching and learning. To support educators in navigating this rapidly evolving environment, the training course focused on innovative ways of integrating ICT, web platforms, and digital resources into education, helping participants develop practical digital competencies and discover new opportunities for engaging students.

The new edition of the course “Making the most of new technologies, apps and social media in the classroom” took place from 17/05/2026 to 23/05/2026 and brought together education professionals from different European countries: Birgitte from Studieskolen in Denmark; Maja from OMS Pfeilgasse in Austria; Agnieszca, Joanna and Katarzyna from Stowarzyszenie Biuro Obsługi Ruchu Inicjatyw Społecznych BORIS in Poland; Elisabeth and Gianni from AES in Italy; Agnieszka from AES in Italy; and Karigianni and Salakou from Art School of Angolis in Greece.

Throughout the week, participants had the chance to share their professional experiences, present their schools and institutions, and exchange best practices on the integration of technology in education.

A key focus of the course was the expanding role of digital tools in teaching and learning processes. Participants explored a wide range of online platforms, collaborative environments, and interactive applications aimed at enhancing classroom interaction, communication, and student engagement. Through practical workshops and hands-on sessions, they developed skills in creating innovative educational materials and learned how to effectively incorporate digital resources into their everyday teaching practice.

The training also introduced participants to web design and virtual learning spaces, enabling them to explore how websites and blogs can function as educational tools as well as platforms for showcasing learning outcomes. Particular attention was given to game-based learning, interactive presentations, and multimedia resources that can increase student motivation and support diverse learning needs across age groups.

Another important aspect of the course addressed the use of social media in education and the impact of emerging digital trends. Participants reflected on both the benefits and challenges of technology integration, while also exploring strategies for using digital tools in a safe, responsible, and pedagogically meaningful way within the classroom.

In addition to the training content, the course offered meaningful opportunities for networking, intercultural exchange, and international collaboration. Participants connected with colleagues from various European countries, building new professional relationships and discussing potential future cooperation projects.

At the end of the training week, participants returned home with strengthened digital competencies, fresh teaching ideas, and a deeper understanding of how technology can enhance educational practice. The course provided practical tools and inspiration that can be directly applied in their own professional contexts, supporting the development of more innovative, engaging, and inclusive learning environments.
