Meditation for teachers: cultivating mindfulness in classroom

Overview

Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating present-moment awareness and a non-judgmental focus on one’s thoughts, feelings, and surroundings.

In an educational context, mindfulness offers teachers and education staff a powerful tool to enhance the learning environment.

By incorporating mindfulness into their own lives, educators can better manage stress, improve emotional regulation, and foster a sense of well-being.

Target Audience

This course is open to: teachers, headmasters, trainers, educational staff, school and education managers, educational and  career counsellors, other school staff, other adult education staff, other higher education staff, other non-governmental organization staff, public servants, policy makers. 
Please mind that the course may include teachers from different school levels.

The course is held in English.

What will you learn?

Participants will learn about the origins and uses of mindfulness in different settings and experiment a variety of mindful strategies that will allow them to integrate this practice in their classroom. Through a hands-on approach participants will acquire concrete methods that will enhance the teacher-student relationship, improve communication, and create a positive and resilient space for academic and personal growth.

Learning Outcomes

This course allows participants to improve their own and their students’ well-being by integrating mindful practices into their own teaching and therefore foster a sense of presence, participation, stress-resilience and growth in their classrooms. 
The general aim of this course is to foster excellence in education by empowering teachers, trainers, headmasters and other education staff to cultivate a more present mindset and promote empathic relationships and self-awareness in the classroom together with other participants and trainers throughout all Europe gaining as well a broader understanding of education in Europe and exchanging best practices and experiences.

Understanding and Practicing Mindfulness

Define mindfulness, its key principles, and cultivate self-awareness and present-moment attention through meditation techniques.

Integrating Mindfulness in Teaching and Stress Management

Learn to incorporate mindfulness into daily teaching practices, manage stress, and guide relaxation activities to reduce student anxiety.

Fostering Empathy and Networking in Education

Explore the role of empathy and compassion in education, while sharing good practices, challenges, and building connections with educators and organizations across Europe.
