Innovative Uses of ICT in Education

It can often be challenging to keep a classroom motivated, engaged, and enthusiastic during lessons. This is where ICT tools such as various apps and web platforms become valuable, supporting teachers in delivering information while also capturing and maintaining students’ attention. In today’s world, becoming familiar with interactive learning is essential, as it allows us to provide students with an alternative, non-traditional learning approach that helps sustain their interest and participation.

The new edition of the course “Integrating ICT and New Technologies into Teaching and Education” took place in Tenerife from 16/11/2025 to 22/11/2025. The participants came from several European countries. Slovenia was represented by Janja from JVIZ l. osnovna šola Rogaška Slatina, as well as Vanda and Maja from OŠ Roje. Latvia took part through Riga Technical University, with Ilona, Aleksandrs, Inta, and Sarmite attending the course. Croatia was represented by Josipa and Ivana from Petra Preradovića, Pitomača. Italy participated with several institutions: Liceo G. De Bottis was represented by Giulio, Laura, and Rossella; Liceo “G. Mazzini” La Spezia by Barbara; Liceo Mazzini by Stefania; and IIS Turriziani by Cristina and Maria. Portugal was represented by Elsa-Maria and Leitão from Centro Qualifica da Escola Profissional de Tondela.

The course equipped participants with knowledge of various technological tools and skills to integrate them effectively into their teaching methods.

A core part of the training involved exploring accessible and easy-to-use tools for editing pictures and videos. These digital resources are highly valuable in education for creating diverse multimedia content, introducing new topics, reviewing past material, or encouraging students to foster creativity by producing their own media. Video presentations, in particular, were highlighted as a powerful way to boost learner engagement and capture attention.

Furthermore, participants gained practical experience in website creation. The course provided hands-on practice with a drag-and-drop website creation tool, enabling them to easily design a professional site for their respective schools.

Recognizing the shift toward virtual lessons and online classes over the past two years, the course dedicated time to tools supporting remote teaching. This included learning to use a virtual whiteboard to create interactive online lessons that promote collaborative learning.

The learning experience was enriched by numerous hands-on activities, such as giving presentations, designing virtual quizzes, creating engaging social media content, and using platforms for organizing graphics, posters, and collages. This immersive approach to technology provided practical skill-building.

In conclusion, this training served as a platform for participants to share insights, engage in reflection, and learn from their peers. They finished the course with enhanced understanding of interactive learning and a refined collection of digital tools, ready for immediate classroom implementation. This practical approach is expected to significantly enhance students’ creativity, engagement, attention, and motivation, making learning a more dynamic and enjoyable process.
