What the UK’s return to Erasmus+ means for your school
On 15 April 2026 the EU and the UK finalised the agreement that brings the UK into Erasmus+ in 2027. UK organisations will be able to apply for any kind of Erasmus+ project funded in 2027, including Key Action 1 mobility projects that pay for school staff to train abroad.
Through KA1, school staff can attend training courses, job-shadow colleagues or teach in a school in another Erasmus+ country.
The government has confirmed that the Turing Scheme will not operate in the 2027 to 2028 academic year, when Erasmus+ placements begin.
The British Council is set to become the UK’s National Agency for Erasmus+. Its website, erasmusplus.org.uk, already publishes guidance for UK applicants.

Turing Scheme vs Erasmus+: what’s different for school staff
For schools, the biggest change is staff development. The Turing Scheme funded placements for pupils, with staff travelling to accompany them. Erasmus+ also funds training for the staff themselves.

Why choose a course provider based in the EU
“We need a course abroad, run properly, in a country our staff want to visit.”
KA1 activities take place abroad. In every country where we run courses there is a local training centre with its own OID and VAT number, for clean paperwork and invoicing.
“We haven’t run an Erasmus+ project in years. What do we need to get right?”
12,000+ teachers and education staff trained and 200+ Erasmus+ KA1 projects. We know what National Agencies ask for, and we hold an Erasmus+ accreditation.
“Our first Erasmus+ project has to go smoothly.”
Support with your Mobility Agreement (our part, the activities, learning outcomes and programme, and our signature), detailed programme, certificate of attendance and Europass Mobility on request. Our courses are Erasmus+ quality standards compliant.
“Staffing changes all the time in a school year.”
Changing the participant’s name is always free, even at short notice. Rescheduling is free with at least two months’ notice.

Where your staff can train
In our main cities there are sessions in almost every week of the year, so you can fit a course around your school calendar. Staff who need more than one week can ask us for a single two-week course, with one programme and one certificate.
Also in Porto, Athens and Zagreb. Up to 3 staff from the same school can join each session, so every group stays international.
“Being a teacher for almost thirty years and having attended all sorts of courses and lessons, this is probably the only one I wish all my colleagues could attend.”
