Erasmus+ invited experts: an ELA trainer at your school or organisation

Erasmus+ KA1 lets schools, adult education and VET organisations invite a trainer from abroad to work with their staff on site. On request, and subject to trainer availability, one of our trainers can come to you and run a training on any of the topics of our courses.

The rules

What the Erasmus+ Programme Guide says about invited experts

Invited experts are one of the “other supported activities” of KA1 mobility projects in school education, vocational education and training, and adult education, in both short-term (KA122) and accredited (KA121) projects.

Who

A professional from another country

Trainers, teachers, policy experts or other qualified professionals from another EU Member State or a third country associated to the Programme.

How long

From 2 to 60 days

The visit always takes place at the organisation that receives the grant, consortium members included.

What they do

Train your staff on site

For example: training the staff, demonstrating new teaching methods, or helping transfer good practices in organisation and management.

Documents

A learning programme

Agreed with your organisation before the visit. Afterwards, you keep the executed programme as proof that the activity took place.

In your application

Alongside other mobility

A project must include at least one staff or learner mobility activity: the invited expert is added to it, not requested on its own.

Budget

Travel, individual and organisational support

The grant covers the expert’s travel and stay through the standard unit costs, plus 100 EUR of organisational support. The “course fees” category does not apply to invited experts.

Where our trainers come from

Trainers from Italy and Spain, matched to your country

Our trainers are mainly based in Italy and Spain, where our main training centres are. Because the Programme requires an invited expert to come from a country other than yours, we match the trainer to where your organisation is.

Organisations in Italy

A trainer from Spain.

Organisations in Spain

A trainer from Italy.

Organisations in any other Erasmus+ country

A trainer from Italy or Spain.

How it works with ELA

From your request to the training day

You tell us what you need

We send a proposal

ELA

We check which trainer is free in that period and comes from a country other than yours, and send you a proposal.

We agree the learning programme

ELA + you

Content, method and objectives of the visit, written by the trainer and agreed with you before the visit.

The trainer comes to you

ELA

The training takes place at your organisation. You keep the executed programme for your report.

Your application and your report remain yours: we provide the trainer and the learning programme, not the paperwork of your project.

Good to know

Before you plan an invited expert with us

Is it always available?
No. Our trainers mainly run our courses, so we organise invited-expert visits only on request and when a trainer is free. Ask us early, ideally before you write your application.
Where do your trainers travel from?
Mainly from Italy and Spain. The Programme requires the expert to come from a country other than yours: an Italian school can invite a trainer from Spain, a Spanish school a trainer from Italy, and organisations in other Erasmus+ countries a trainer from either.
What does it cost?
It depends on the topic, the number of days and the number of staff taking part. Contact us with what you have in mind and we’ll send you a proposal.
Would a course abroad suit you better?
If only one or two colleagues need the training, a course abroad usually fits better: see the course catalogue or the page for Erasmus+ coordinators.

Tell us what you have in mind

Write to us with the topic, the period, how many staff will take part and your country. We’ll reply with a proposal and the dates we can offer.
