European Project Design and Management for Education Professionals

The landscape of European funding is filled with possibilities for education staff to make a difference in instruction. The Erasmus+ program, a beacon for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport, is offering a plethora of options to elevate the quality and inclusion of education by supporting various activities and organizations.

La nouvelle édition du cours “Gestion et conception de projets européens pour les enseignants, les chefs d'établissement et les éducateurs” took place in Tenerife from 31/05/2026 to 06/06/2026. The participants came from all across Europe: Nadia from ITS DE SIMONI-QUADRIO in Italy; Klaus from BSZ für Wirtschaft, Gesundheit, Ernährung und Forstwirtschaft “Anne Frank” in Germany; Catia and Lorenzo from YouNet APS in Italy; Inca and Julia from St-Viti-Gymnasium in Germany, Gwenaelle from The Gaiety School of Acting in Ireland; Daniela and Mehriban from HRS Ritterhude in Germany; and Fabian from Henallux in Belgium.

The course opened with an in-depth overview of the European funding environment. Participants took part in team-building activities, identified their needs and expectations, and explored a variety of funding opportunities, with particular attention given to Erasmus+ and other relevant programs that matched the interests and priorities identified during the initial assessment phase.

Participants then embarked on a collaborative project development process that was designed to evolve throughout the training week under the guidance of the trainers. They began by discussing broad project ideas, analyzing suitable funding opportunities and related actions, and subsequently formed working groups based on common interests and project objectives.

The training continued with an introduction to Project Cycle Management and the Logical Framework Approach, both of which provide a fundamental theoretical basis for European project design. As their projects developed, participants worked on identifying key challenges and constructing problem and objective trees to support the planning process.

The group also examined examples of successful EU-funded initiatives in order to better understand the value of a well-structured Work Breakdown Structure in project planning and implementation. A variety of project management and time-planning tools were presented and discussed, helping participants shape their project frameworks and design detailed activity plans.

The following sessions focused on strengthening participants’ technical knowledge by addressing topics such as budgeting, eligible expenditures, financial planning, and project monitoring. These activities provided practical guidance on managing project resources effectively throughout the implementation process.

As the course progressed, participants and trainers exchanged experiences, practical recommendations, and valuable insights related to project management, event planning, dissemination strategies, promotion activities, and community involvement.

Towards the conclusion of the course, participants were guided through the process of presenting and pitching their final project ideas, simulating a proposal presentation to a potential funding organization. This activity highlighted the importance of clear and persuasive communication in project development and management while reinforcing the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired during the training week.

The course concluded with the hope that the knowledge gained, professional connections established, and collaborative experiences shared throughout the week will support participants in the successful development of future project applications and international initiatives.
