An educator’s role is to impart knowledge and foster the development of skills and competencies in their students. A coach, on the other hand, focuses on encouragement and guidance, using active listening, meaningful questioning, and well-placed challenges to inspire growth. Although these roles may seem different at first glance, imagine the potential when a teacher incorporates coaching techniques into their practice—transforming into not only a source of knowledge but also a source of motivation.
Noua ediție a cursului “The Role of AI in Modern Education: Tools for Teachers and Learners” a avut loc în Palermo from 31/08/2025 to 06/09/2025. The training brought together participants from different parts of Europe, including Simona Vincelj from Gimnazija Celje – Center in Slovenia; Elisa Isabel Lobo Barros from Colegio Salesiano María Auxiliadora in Spain; Asia Rutkowska and Una Lowry from Dublin South City Partnership in Ireland; and María del Pilar Rodríguez Fernández from Private Berufsakademie für Aus- und Weiterbildung Passau gGmbH in Germany.
The course opened with an introduction to AI in education. Through group discussions, participants reflected on how artificial intelligence can transform the learning experience by tailoring content to individual needs, easing teachers’ workload through automation of routine tasks, and providing meaningful data-driven insights. They also explored examples of AI-powered tools that can be integrated into classrooms, such as intelligent tutoring systems, automated grading programs, and adaptive learning platforms.A key part of the training highlighted the role of prompting when working with ChatGPT. Since the quality of AI-generated answers largely depends on how questions are formulated, mastering this skill is essential for educators. Participants practiced designing clear, specific, and contextually relevant prompts to make the most of ChatGPT as a supportive tool in the classroom.
Another important theme addressed during the course was the ethical use of AI in education. Discussions focused on issues such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, and the need for well-defined policies to regulate AI integration in schools. Recognizing these ethical dimensions is vital to guarantee that AI tools are applied in ways that remain fair, transparent, and supportive of all learners. The course also delved into integrating ICT tools with AI features, highlighting tools that enhance collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking among students. Participants were encouraged to explore various ICT applications and consider how these can be augmented with AI capabilities to improve learning outcomes.
Assessment in the era of AI was another major focus of the course. Participants examined how AI can be used to design innovative formative assessment methods, deliver immediate feedback, and support differentiated learning. The sessions highlighted the potential of AI to make assessment more personalized, efficient, and responsive to individual student needs.
During the training week, participants were able to exchange experiences and learn from a variety of cultural perspectives. This collaborative setting supported the development of both AI and coaching skills, while offering a space for participants to consider how to implement these tools and techniques effectively in their own classrooms.Descoperiți mai multe despre acest curs aici.
