We all know it: it is not always easy to discover new approaches that allow us to teach while also enjoying the process. Using innovative methods can truly make a difference when working with our youngest learners. It is essential to understand how to motivate them and support their development through play. Fortunately, there are many tools that can be used in preschool settings today: project-based learning, non-formal education, outdoor education and creative games are just a few of the many possibilities available to us.
A new edition of the course “Metode inovatoare de predare pentru profesorii de grădiniță” a avut loc în Tenerife de la 08/03/2026 to 14/03/2026. The participants came from all across Europe, with Kristýna from Městská část Praha 18 in Czech Republic, Tamas from Blue Forest Foundation in Hungary, and 6 participants from Italy, Angela Marzia and Ilenia from Montessori Palermo, Manfredi and Sabrina from Minutoli Palermo, Roberta and Michela from Servizi 0-6 Bologna.

An Erasmus experience would not be complete without sharing cultures and good practices. For this reason, we began the training with presentations of all the schools, followed by an overview of the preschool education system. Participants showed photos and videos and shared examples of their most successful practices with the rest of the group.
The first theme we explored was inovație within the preschool system. Starting from practical activities, we discussed învățarea socio-emoțională and looked at Kolb’s experiential learning cycle. We discovered how this model helps move from reflection to conceptualization and then to practical application, giving students a more active role in their learning journey. Naturally, we also tested many games and activities ourselves: teachers had the chance to demonstrate their drawing, dancing and singing abilities in front of the group.

Through various activities and games, we explored the benefits of outdoor learning. Among the advantages highlighted were greater motivation and creativity, as well as improved psychophysical well-being thanks to time spent in nature and the resulting reduction of stress.
The third topic focused on Învățarea bazată pe proiecte (examples, how to apply, different features, how to introduce it in the classroom). This innovative approach enables students to explore topics in a more direct and meaningful way, starting from a key question and investigating real-world issues. By examining the principles of PBL, participants learned how teamwork, cooperation and creativity can support young learners in understanding how to face real-life challenges, encouraging strategic thinking and active inquiry with the guidance of the teacher.

Finally, we discovered the value of creativity through a series of challenges that encouraged everyone to think outside the box. By the last day, the sense of team spirit was so strong that saying goodbye was not easy. Nevertheless, we found a lovely way to show our appreciation to one another. In the end, everyone left feeling motivated and ready to return home and begin applying the many ideas developed during the course. Another inspiring week had come to an end, ready to continue in the participants’ own countries.
