This course offered educators valuable insights into inclusive education, highlighting practical strategies, co-teaching models, and the effective integration of students with special needs. Participants gained hands-on experience that can be directly applied to promote inclusivity and active participation in their own classrooms.

Noua ediție a cursului “Special needs and inclusive education, the Italian and Spanish experience of overcoming segregation” took place in Tenerife  from 28/09/2025 to 04/10/2025. The participants came from Italy, Clementina,Anna,Samuela,Sabrina,Maria,Federica,Monica,Patrizia from Istituto Comprensivo Cermenate (Co). 

The course began with a school presentation and an introduction to the concept of inclusion in education. Inclusive education focuses on creating an environment where every student—regardless of background or ability—feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. Educators are encouraged to adopt strategies that recognize individual differences and promote personalized pathways to success. Collaboration and openness to innovative methods are essential to building an inclusive learning environment that ensures equal opportunities for all.

Next, participants explored the spanish model of inclusive education, the  participants saw how co-teaching is applied in classrooms to meet the diverse needs of students. The role of support teachers in this system was also highlighted, showing how important teamwork is for creating an inclusive learning environment.
One of the key topics of the course was the concept of aderare and the fundamental human need to belong. During this session, participants discussed how crucial it is for all students—especially those with special educational needs—to feel part of the school community. A strong sense of belonging helps students stay motivated, engaged, and confident in their learning journey.

The course concluded with a session on inclusive teaching methods and the integration of ICT tools. Teachers explored various strategies and technologies that can make learning more accessible, engaging, and personalized. These tools empower educators to design lessons that meet the diverse needs of their students, fostering greater participation, collaboration, and overall learning success.

Throughout the course, participants gained valuable insights and practical tools to promote inclusivity in their own classrooms. The discussions were lively and thought-provoking, fueled by the participants’ shared passion for creating better learning opportunities for all. This experience served as a powerful reminder of how education can break down barriers, foster understanding, and ensure that every student feels truly included.
