In today’s demanding educational environment, stress and emotional exhaustion are common experiences for teachers and school personnel. The course “Mindfulness and Meditation for Teachers and Education Staff: Cultivating Students’ and Teachers’ Well-Being” provided practical techniques to cope with stress, strengthen emotional awareness, and encourage a more mindful and balanced way of teaching and learning.
Celebrado en Tenerife de 26/04/2026 to 02/05/2026, the course brought together educators from across Europe, Marion from Berufliche Oberschule Weißenburg, Janina from Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium Weißenburg i.Bay., Branimira from Georg Kerschensteiner Berufskolleg and Kamil from Gymnasium Hohenlimburg in Alemania, Raphael and Sarah from Schulzentrum FIDS 10 in Austria, Leonardo from Italia, Polona from Glasbena šola Ribnica in Eslovenia and Ása Lára and Áslaug from Menntaskólinn við Sund in Iceland.
Combining theoretical input with practical application, participants examined how mindfulness and meditation can enhance concentration, ease stress, and support both individual well-being and a positive classroom atmosphere.

A key element of the course was understanding the importance of breathing in stress management. Participants practiced methods such as abdominal breathing and the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, learning how conscious breathing can soothe the nervous system and encourage emotional balance. These approaches proved to be simple, efficient, and easy to incorporate into everyday school life—for both teachers and students.
Throughout the course, educators took part in guided meditations, body scan exercises, and regular journaling to build greater self-awareness and presence. These reflective practices helped them better identify emotional triggers and respond with increased clarity and empathy.
Some sessions took place outdoors, giving participants the opportunity to experience mindfulness while connecting with nature. At the beach, they focused on breathing and listening; in Bollulo beach, they carried out reflective activities in a natural setting. These moments strengthened their sense of calm and connection.

The course also addressed practical ways to bring mindfulness into the classroom. Teachers explored strategies such as short breathing pauses, attention-focusing activities, and mindful transitions between lessons. They also practiced techniques for mindful listening and communication to enhance interactions with both students and colleagues.
By the end of the week, participants had created their own set of mindfulness tools along with a plan to apply these practices in their schools. They returned home feeling more centered, confident, and motivated to foster supportive and mindful learning environments.
