In today’s classrooms, blending digital tools and AI isn’t just a trend. It’s a way to make learning stick for students who grew up with screens. A recent Erasmus+ course in Athens brought educators together to figure out how to do this without overwhelming their routines.
The course, “Integrating ICT, New Technologies and AI Tools into Teaching and Education,” ran from February 8 to 14, 2026, right in the heart of Athens. Participants hailed from schools across Europe: Karen from AECB Lycée Saint Joseph in France; Maria Carme from Escola Oficial d’Idiomes de Lleida in Spain; Adem from Hyper Island Program AB in Sweden; Konstantinos from Agios Athanasios Gymnasium in Cyprus; Minna from Otsola Adult Education Centre in Finland; Nikolas from Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training Larnaka in Cyprus; Jarosław, Wojciech Kr., Wojciech Ku., and Stanisław from Szkoła Podstawowa im. Tadeusza Kościuszki in Poland; and Maria Antònia and Bàrbara from Ies Mossèn Alcover in Spain.
The group kicked off on Sonday with icebreakers and sharing about their schools and organizations, setting a collaborative tone right away. They dove into basic interactive tools for gathering ideas and feedback, like shared digital walls.
By Monday and Tuesday, daily energizers and name games kept things lively, while they explored polling apps for quick checks and gamified quizzes to review material in fun ways. Mornings often wrapped up with reflections, helping everyone connect the tools to their own classrooms.
Midweek shifted to visual brainstorming boards for group mapping and more quiz platforms that adapt to learners. Participants paired these with real classroom scenarios, swapping tips on keeping students engaged.
Thursday brought an open conversation on AI’s role in education, followed by a free afternoon to experiment or recharge. This built on earlier sessions, showing how tech supports, and not replaces, teaching instincts.
The final day focused on AI platforms for generating lesson ideas, school-wide tools, and creative aids like magic-school generators. Everyone earned certifications, capping off hands-on trials with practical takeaways.

Participants left with a refreshed toolkit: specific ways to use interactive polls, collaborative boards, gamified reviews, and AI for smarter planning. The real value came from cross-country chats, teachers from primary schools to adult and shared how these fit different ages and subjects, sparking ideas they’ll tweak back home.
