Learning, Creativity and New Perspectives: An Erasmus+ Mobility in Tenerife

Erasmus+ mobility is about much more than attending a course. It gives participants the chance to step outside their usual environment, discover new approaches to learning, exchange experiences with others, and develop both professionally and personally. By combining training with teamwork, cultural experiences, and time spent in a different environment, mobility can inspire new ideas and encourage participants to look at education from a fresh perspective.

The Erasmus+ mobility took place in Тенерифе от 5 to 13 August 2026. The activities were conducted in English and Italian, bringing together participants from Италия in a friendly and collaborative learning environment. The mobility welcomed Francesco, Chiara, Enrica, Camilla, Valeria,  Ayoub, Maram,  Aya, Amina, Blerta, Benedetta, Matteo, and Marco from Next Generation Italy EduLAb; Samia from Next Generation; and Sabrina from EduLab.

The mobility focused on developing skills that are increasingly important in today’s rapidly changing world. Participants explored the principles of formal, non-formal, and informal learning, while discovering how non-formal education can make learning more active and engaging. They also looked at creativity, critical thinking, innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving, reflecting on how these skills can be encouraged in different educational settings.

The programme combined discussions and presentations with practical activities, group challenges, reflection sessions, and collaborative work. Participants explored topics such as planning, emotions in learning, creativity, and teamwork while exchanging ideas and reflecting on their own educational practices. Learning also extended beyond the classroom through activities in natural settings, team-building exercises, and opportunities to connect with the local community.

The mobility also included several cultural and experiential activities around Tenerife. Visits to El Teide, Garachico, and Icod de los Vinos allowed participants to discover some of the island’s most distinctive natural and cultural sites. At Lago Martiánez, they took part in activities focused on empathy and cooperation, while mindfulness exercises in a beach or forest setting provided time to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with the surrounding environment.

Towards the end of the mobility, participants put their teamwork and organisational skills into practice during a public event. The experience gave them the opportunity to work together, engage with the local community, and contribute to activities taking place outside the usual learning environment. It was a fitting way to bring together many of the ideas explored throughout the mobility, from creativity and collaboration to active participation.

Throughout the week, participants strengthened a wide range of competences, including creative and critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, planning, adaptability, and interpersonal skills. They also gained greater confidence in designing experiential learning activities and using creative approaches to engage different groups.

Although the mobility brought together participants from the same country, the experience was strongly connected to the international spirit of Erasmus+. Learning in a different European environment, discovering Tenerife’s culture, and interacting with the local community offered new perspectives and encouraged participants to look beyond their usual professional and cultural context.

The mobility was a chance to learn, experiment, collaborate, and experience education in a different way. Participants returned home with new ideas, practical tools, and experiences that can inspire their future work. Above all, the week showed that learning does not have to stop when we leave the classroom. Erasmus+ mobility is an investment in lifelong learning and continuous professional development, helping participants stay curious, adaptable, and ready to keep learning.
