From Ideas to Action: Entrepreneurship in Education

To engage students, it’s a complex challenge: using innovative methods can be a significant resource to motivate them and to enhance their learning. Developing entrepreneurial and leadership competences in education is becoming increasingly important in order to prepare learners to face a rapidly changing world with confidence, creativity and responsibility.

The new edition of the course “Entrepreneurship and Leadership” took place in Bologna from 08/02/2026 to 14/02/2026. The participants came from all across Europe, with Kateřina, Jan and Dagmar from Základní škola a mateřská škola Pozořice, příspěvková organizace (Czech Republic), Anke from WICO VZW (Belgium), Magnus from Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet (Sweden), Vasileios, Eirini, Aikaterini and Vassilios from Administrative Secondary Education Of Korinthos (Greece) and Carina and Aleksei from Ida – Virumaa Vocational Education Centre (Estonia).

The course started with team-building activities and a needs analysis session, allowing participants to share expectations and reflect on the meaning of entrepreneurship and leadership within their own educational contexts. Through discussion and collaborative work, they explored the concept of the entrepreneurial mindset and the key competences connected to it, laying the foundations for the week.

At first, participants focused on understanding the core principles of entrepreneurship education. Working with practical tools such as SMART goals and the Business Model Canvas, they experienced how structured planning, creativity and strategic thinking can be fostered in the classroom. Through simulations and group challenges, they developed mini business ideas, reflecting on how such activities can encourage initiative, problem-solving and collaboration among students.

On the other side, creativity and communication were at the centre of the following sessions. Through interactive exercises and practical games, participants trained their creative and critical thinking skills and practiced public speaking through pitching activities. These moments highlighted how entrepreneurship education can empower learners to express ideas clearly, build self-confidence and learn from feedback.

Leadership and teamwork were further explored through role-plays and cooperative tasks. Participants analysed different leadership styles and reflected on what it means to guide and motivate a group effectively. By experiencing group dynamics firsthand, they gained practical insights into how to foster responsibility, active participation and mutual trust within their own classes.

Finally, the course combined entrepreneurship competences with an outdoor experience, showing how learning can take place beyond the classroom walls. Through experiential activities, participants worked on communication styles, assertiveness and problem-solving, and designed their own entrepreneurship workshop tailored to their target groups.

This course helped participants to understand how to work with a more innovative approach in their classes.

By Friday, team spirit was so high that it was difficult to say goodbye. However, our group was very eager to go back and start applying all the many ideas that emerged during the course. Another great week of inspiration was over, but only to be continued back in their countries.
