The field of early childhood and preschool education is continuously evolving, making it essential for teachers to stay updated with the latest trends and developments. This training course is designed as a starting point for preschool educators to explore the key principles, characteristics, and advantages of some of the most effective preschool approaches.
The new edition of the course “The Best for Preschool Teachers” was held in Tenerife from 15/03/2026 to 21/03/2026. Participants came from various European countries, including Zsófia from Angolpalánta Montessori Óvoda in Hungary; Nika and Kelly from Vrtec Jožefe Maslo Ilirska Bistrica in Slovenia; and Nadine from LVR Berufskolleg in Germany.

The course started with an introduction to the Italian preschool education system, giving participants a clearer understanding of its organization and key principles. During this phase, teachers also delivered presentations about their own schools, sharing experiences and practices that enriched the group’s overall perspective on early childhood education across Europe.
A major focus of the training was inclusive education, with particular attention to the Italian inclusive model. Participants explored practical strategies used in Italy to create inclusive classrooms that support every child, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds, ensuring equal learning opportunities for all.
As part of the programme, the group visited a Montessori school, where they observed its educational philosophy in action. This experience demonstrated how child-centered learning is implemented, allowing children to progress at their own rhythm. The carefully prepared environment and specialized materials illustrated how this method encourages independence, creativity, and a lifelong passion for learning. Participants also engaged with concepts related to non-formal education.
Another highlight was the visit to Minutoli, an outdoor school where learning takes place in natural surroundings. Here, participants observed how play-based activities in nature enhance children’s creativity, physical well-being, and environmental awareness. Teachers exchanged insights and reflected on the value of outdoor education in early childhood development.
The course concluded with an exploration of the Reggio Emilia approach, widely recognized for its innovative practices. Participants examined exhibits focused on its history, materials, and project-based learning methods. This final stage offered a deeper understanding of a philosophy that values creativity, collaboration, and respect for children’s ideas and expressions. In addition, the course addressed outdoor education, non-formal learning, and socio-emotional development in preschool settings.

At the end of the week, participants returned home with a wealth of new knowledge, inspiration, and memorable experiences, ready to apply what they had learned in their own teaching contexts.
