In today’s fast-changing world, education is more vital than ever in shaping the future of society. With the rapid advancement of technology and the evolving needs of learners, traditional teaching methods often struggle to keep up. This is where innovative teaching methodologies step in. These modern approaches not only enhance the learning process but also empower students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and navigate new challenges with confidence.
Kurs “Innovative Teaching Methods for Teachers, School, and Adult Education Staff” introduced participants to a variety of cutting-edge teaching strategies, all tailored to meet the specific needs and realities of the participants. By focusing on these innovative methodologies, the course aimed to equip educators with the tools to foster a more engaging and dynamic learning environment. The new edition of the course took place in Teneryfa from 22/06/2025 to 28/06/2025. The participants were coming from all across Europe: Laurence Richert, from Lycée Hôtelier de La Rochelle in France; Carlos Dias, from Escola Profissional de Agricultura e Desenvolvimento Rural de Ponte de Lima in France; Maria Sosnowska and Klaudia Jamka, from Zespół Szkolno Przedszkolny w Raciechowicach in Poland; Jaroslaw Milewski, from Warsaw University of Technology in Poland; Castillo Christelle and Nathalie Debiais, from Collège Jean Rostand, in France; Mariana Ichim, from Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi in Romania; and Di Sarno Carmen, Ficco Sabina, Rotondo Claudio, Grossi Gabriella and Navarra Domenica from Don Milani – Bari in Italy.
The course kicked off by exploring the increasing importance of skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. In this session, we examined how innovative methodologies, including experiential and inquiry-based learning, can help students develop these essential competencies. We also discussed the shifting role of educators, who now act as facilitators and guides, creating environments that foster exploration, questioning, and innovation among students.
We first focused on Project-Based Learning (PBL), a methodology that turns the classroom into a dynamic hub for inquiry and problem-solving. Through PBL, students engage deeply with topics by working on extended projects that tackle real-world issues. This approach not only boosts their content knowledge but also nurtures critical thinking, teamwork, and self-management skills. Participants shared different educational contexts, discussing how PBL can be designed and implemented to motivate students and keep them actively involved in their learning.
Another session was dedicated to integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools into the classroom to enhance engagement. In today’s digital age, traditional lectures can feel disconnected from students’ daily experiences. By incorporating ICT tools—such as interactive presentations, quizzes, and educational games—teachers can create more engaging and interactive learning experiences.
The course wrapped up on Friday with a hands-on demonstration of what we had learned throughout the week. Therefore, by the end of the course, participants had developed a solid understanding of how to implement these innovative teaching methods in their own classrooms. These strategies are not only valuable for preparing students for future challenges but also serve to create a more vibrant, engaging, and effective learning experience.
