It\u2019s not just about explaining concepts like climate change \u2014 it\u2019s about giving learners the tools to think critically, act responsibly, and feel that their choices matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 17 to 23 May 2026, a group of educators gathered in Athens for the course <em>\u201cGreen skills for education: promoting environmental awareness and sustainable actions in the classroom.\u201d<\/em> The participants came from a wide range of schools and countries: Nathalie, Yves, and C\u00e9cile (Coll\u00e8ge G\u00e9rard Philipe, France); Ana Sofia (Agrupamento de Escolas de Silves, Portugal); Chiara (IC Busalla-Casella, Italy); Paul (Lyc\u00e9e technique pour professions \u00e9ducatives et sociales, Luxembourg); Asta and Rasa (Prezidentas Antanas Smetona Gymnazium, Lithuania); and Alexandre, Diogo, and Rui (Escola Secund\u00e1ria Marqu\u00eas de Pombal, Portugal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/b7ef1f3d-d624-4f77-a7b9-b4505a170a32\" class=\"lazyload\" alt=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/b7ef1f3d-d624-4f77-a7b9-b4505a170a32\" alt=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/573f59fc-c4c8-41d3-865d-1b02f7428aab\" class=\"lazyload\" alt=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/573f59fc-c4c8-41d3-865d-1b02f7428aab\" alt=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/3ecd5513-9664-4d13-80a6-685a606fbd41\" class=\"lazyload\" alt=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/erasmustrainingcourses.com\/3ecd5513-9664-4d13-80a6-685a606fbd41\" alt=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The week opened with school presentations and a cultural introduction to Athens, creating a relaxed space for participants to get to know each other and start exchanging ideas from day one. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>The first full day focused on what \u201cgreen skills\u201d actually mean in education. Through <strong>group discussions<\/strong> e <strong>collaborative activities<\/strong>, participants explored sustainability, key environmental concepts, and the role of teachers in shaping awareness. A personal \u201cGreen Action Journal\u201d was introduced as a way to reflect on learning throughout the week, while interactive tasks encouraged both engagement and connection within the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>On Tuesday, the focus shifted outdoors. Participants took part in <strong>movement-based challenges<\/strong> and a <strong>structured exploration activity<\/strong> that demonstrated how <strong>educazione ambientale<\/strong> can be active and hands-on. These experiences were then linked to larger frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals and long-term climate targets, helping connect classroom practice with global priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After an intensive start, Wednesday offered a break \u2014 time to recharge, reflect informally, and continue conversations in a more relaxed setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Thursday moved into more in-depth topics, including <strong>carbon and ecological footprints<\/strong>, as well as the difference between reducing environmental impact and adapting to change. Through case studies and group work, participants explored the root causes of environmental issues and discussed what a more sustainable school might look like. A role-play activity added another layer, challenging participants to respond to uncertain situations and think flexibly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The final day brought everything together with a focus on critical thinking. Participants examined how to identify misleading environmental claims and guide students in doing the same. The course closed with a final reflection, feedback session, and a small ceremony that marked the end of an intensive but collaborative experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of the week, participants had not only explored new content but also experienced different ways of teaching \u2014 more interactive, reflective, and student-centred.
