What is a supportive classroom for you?<\/font>\u00a0For us it is a place where students are suppporting each other and teachers are aiming to build together a safe and supporting learning enviroment,\u00a0working on Emotional Intelligence, collaborative learning tecniques, communication, conflict management.<\/span><\/font><\/h2>\n

These<\/font> were the main topics discussed in the new edition of the course \u201cEffective Classroom Management Strategies for teachers and education staff\u200b\u201d that took place in Tenerife from 15\/10\/2023 to 21\/10\/2023. The participants came from all across Europe, with Edita and Evalda from <\/font><\/span>Smelte’s Progymnasium<\/span> in Lithuania, Tanja from <\/span>Osnovna \u0161ola Zagradec<\/span> in Slovenia, V\u011bra from<\/span> Brno University of Technology,<\/span> <\/span>Faculty of Civil Engineering in Czech Republic<\/strong> <\/span>and Sophia from <\/span>Theresianische Akademie <\/span>Wien<\/strong> in Austria.
\u200b<\/span><\/font><\/span>
\u200bIn the course, they learned three important things<\/span>\u00a0for managing a classroom well. Firstly,\u00a0engagement<\/strong>\u00a0emphasized building strong relationships, respecting diversity, and encouraging school involvement. The second factor was\u00a0safety<\/strong>, ensuring emotional and physical security within the classroom. Lastly, a\u00a0positive environment\u00a0<\/strong>with peace, calm, and understanding is essential for students.<\/span><\/font><\/h2>\n

They learned about <\/span>Social Emotional Learning,<\/span> which means understanding and managing emotions and recognizing others’ feelings.This skill is crucial for fostering a more accepting and supportive environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then the course looked at<\/span> how groups work together<\/span>. Managing these interactions in the classroom is important to keep a comfortable atmosphere, encouraging student participation and preventing dropouts. Teachers reflected together on how do differentiate their teaching practises to include all the students and they did it through the collaborative learning tecnique called\u00a0<\/span>“learning stations,”<\/span> discussing different aspects of diversity in various ways.<\/span><\/font><\/h2>\n

Later on, the participants concentrated on <\/span>communication, <\/span>specifically exploring the distinction between fixed and growth mindsets<\/strong>. They were tested and challenged on their assumptions about their own mindsets, leading the group to analyze the traits associated with a “growth mindset.”<\/span>
Later on, the concept of the “<\/span>Flipped Classroom<\/span>” was introduced. They tried out different technology tools to help manage this method, making their teaching more efficient and effective.<\/span>
Lastly, the course covered <\/span>conflict management. <\/span>By examining their own beliefs and biases, participants learned that conflicts can be valuable when handled appropriately.<\/span>
It was an amazing experience that we will all keep in our memories, as we were ourselves a very supportive classroom<\/strong>!\u00a0 <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
