While we strive to prepare students for real-world demands and opportunities, as well as equip them with 21st century skills, we sometimes overlook the fact that, as educators, we carry the responsibility of imagining and establishing environments where everyone can unleash their creativity and discover their full potential.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The new edition of the course \u201cCreativity for the future: promoting Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving in the classroom\u201d took place in <\/span>Tenerife from 13\/08\/2023 to 19\/08\/2023. The participants came from all across Europe, with <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Milena from\u00a0<\/span>Coll\u00e8ge Sainte-Claire <\/span>in France, Veronika from<\/span>\u00a0Sofie – mate\u0159sk\u00e1 a z\u00e1kladn\u00ed \u0161kola, o.p.s.<\/span> in Czech Republic,\u00a0L\u00e1szl\u00f3 from\u00a0<\/span>G\u00f6llner M\u00e1ria Region\u00e1lis Waldorf Gimn\u00e1zium \u00e9s Alapfok\u00fa M\u0171v\u00e9szeti Iskola<\/span> in Hungary,\u00a0Zsuzsanna from\u00a0<\/span>Budapesti M\u0171szaki SZC Neumann J\u00e1nos Informatikai Technikum <\/span>in Hungary, Senka from<\/span>\u00a0Inholland<\/span> in the Netherlands, Anca, Romeo and Elena from <\/span>ASOCIATIA SMART EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS <\/span>in Romania, Dana and Zuzana from<\/span>\u00a0Evanjelick\u00e1 spojen\u00e1 \u0161kola <\/span>in Slovakia, Veronika, Svetlana and Tomas from<\/span>\u00a0PREBONUS Consulting, ltd. <\/span>from Slovakia, Katarina from<\/span>\u00a0Evanjelicka Spojena skola<\/span> in Slovakia,\u00a0Krist\u012bne from\u00a0<\/span>Tukuma 2.vidusskola <\/span>in Latvia,\u00a0\u00c9va from<\/span>\u00a0Dunakeszi Radn\u00f3ti Mikl\u00f3s Gimn\u00e1zium IV. In the realm of 21st century competences, the participants ventured into a realm encompassing learning and innovation skills, digital <\/span>literacy<\/span>, and vital career and life proficiencies. Their focus was keenly attuned to the 4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. They learned a crucial insight by doing practical activities that demonstrated how our minds work differently when we try to solve problems.<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The participants encountered a series of challenges designed to illuminate the ease with which obstacles to unconventional thinking can be surmounted by employing specific strategies. For instance, the implementation of the “6 Thinking Hats” method facilitated the application of lateral thinking, concretely linking it to existing subject matter. Individual experimentation and peer evaluations underscored the universal utility of this approach across subjects, spanning from sciences to language learning. Additionally, it emerged as a potent formative assessment tool, fostering students’ propensity to think outside the conventional parameters.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Participants switched to using visual techniques, trying out new activities that sparked creativity and encouraged sharing ideas. This helped expand the concept of “visual thinking” beyond just art and brought in a fresh, digital, and inventive element.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Recognizing the importance of developing students’ critical thinking abilities in an age of overwhelming information, there was a focused effort to engage students actively. The participants took part in discussions and exercises that could be adjusted for various classroom situations. The goal was to enable students to become proactive and thoughtful participants in their own learning experiences.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

However, integrating creativity and critical thinking into the classroom isn’t solely about finding new solutions; it frequently springs from reenvisioning conventional methods.<\/font><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

At the end of the course, groups of participants created a personalized collage of their training and cultural getaways in Puerto de la Cruz. The week ended with a symphony of laughter, creativity and new experiences.
