Developing emotional intelligence and soft skills in education is vital for building respectful, cooperative, and emotionally conscious learning environments. Throughout this one-week training program, educators from various European countries engaged in hands-on workshops and reflective dialogues designed to strengthen their communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.<\/span><\/span>
The course \u201cSoft Skills and Emotional Intelligence for Teachers and Education Staff\u201d took place in Tenerife from 02\/11\/2025 \u2013 08\/11\/2025. The participants came from various countries across Europe, including Lucia, Gianluca, Ilaria, Alessandra, and Sara from<\/span> Istituto Comprensivo Salvo D\u2019Acquisto<\/span> in Italy, Nora from <\/span>Liceo Ricci Curbastro<\/span> in Italy, Marianne, Ingvar, Victoria, and Bente from<\/span> Stavanger Offshore Tekniske Skole in Norway<\/span>, Elisabetta from <\/span>IISS A. Pesenti<\/span> in Italy.<\/span><\/span>
The week started with an in-depth exploration of the concept of competences. Participants examined the distinctions between<\/span> knowledge, skills, and attitudes,<\/span> considering their importance in modern education. The session also focused on essential<\/span> 21st-century skills <\/span>for both teachers and learners, complemented by <\/span>hands-on activities<\/span> that encouraged participants to actively apply empathy and mindfulness.

On Tuesday, attention turned to the theme of emotional intelligence. Using Daniel <\/span>Goleman\u2019s Emotional Intelligence model<\/span> as a framework, participants explored ways to support students in <\/span>identifying, understanding, and regulating their emotions<\/span>. A variety of interactive exercises helped translate theory into practice, equipping teachers with strategies to nurture emotional awareness in their classrooms.

Wednesday centered on\u00a0 <\/span>teamwork and leadership<\/span>. Participants practiced giving and receiving<\/span> constructive feedback<\/span> and explored <\/span>peer feedback<\/span> strategies applicable in their own classrooms. They also examined <\/span>Goleman\u2019s six leadership styles<\/span>, reflecting on how different approaches to leadership can influence classroom dynamics. The day concluded with a collaborative group activity, where participants applied their new insights to <\/span>work together effectively<\/span>, recognize team roles, and strengthen professional relationships.

On Thursday, participants delved into innovative approaches for managing debates and disagreements. Later in the day, the focus shifted to <\/span>public speaking<\/span>, featuring hands-on exercises aimed at improving delivery, clarity, and nonverbal communication. The sessions also highlighted the value of <\/span>constructive feedback<\/span>, emphasizing its role in both giving and receiving during oral presentations.

On the final day, Friday, the focus was on <\/span>conflict management.<\/span> Participants analyzed how differing perspectives and misunderstandings can lead to conflict and discussed constructive approaches to resolution. They were introduced to various conflict-handling styles and techniques for managing challenging situations with assurance. The day concluded with a workshop on <\/span>assertive communication<\/span>, where participants practiced expressing their thoughts and needs clearly, confidently, and respectfully.
