“Strengthening Digital Competencies with Artificial Intelligence”

Education is not just about passing on knowledge—it also prepares learners with practical skills to succeed in a digital world. Understanding Artificial Intelligence is becoming essential, as AI is increasingly present in everyday life. From communication and entertainment to healthcare and online services, AI is changing the way we interact with technology.

This was the focus of the recent course “Artificial Intelligence – How to Use AI Methods and Tools When Working with Adults” that took place in Tenerife from 25/01/2026 to 05/02/2026. The participants came from Poland, including Barbara, Irena and Jadwiga from UTA in Andrychów; Paulina, Danuta and Danuta from UTA in Klaj; Krystyna, Regina and Halina from UTA in Pszczyna.

The course began with an introduction where participants shared their goals and expectations. They then learned the basics of AI, including a brief history and how AI differs from traditional software. Practical examples, such as smartphones, voice assistants, and recommendation systems, were explored to show AI in daily life.

A key focus was AI in communication and media. Participants discovered tools for messaging, voice-to-text conversion, and automatic translation. They tried voice assistants like Google Assistant and Siri and explored how platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify use AI to personalize content.

The course also covered AI tools for writing, reading, and organizing information. Participants practiced with tools like Grammarly, Google Docs features, and Google Photos to improve productivity and learning.

Participants also explored AI in online services, including shopping and banking. They learned how sites like Amazon and eBay use AI to provide recommendations, enhance the user experience, and how banks use AI for fraud detection and secure transactions.

Finally, the course examined AI applications in health and well-being. Participants explored smart devices and apps to monitor physical activity and health, tried mindfulness and relaxation apps like Calm and Headspace, and learned about AI tools for telemedicine, medication reminders, and accessibility support for people with visual or hearing impairments.

Throughout the week, participants shared experiences and experimented with AI tools in practical ways. The course strengthened their digital skills and encouraged thoughtful, responsible use of AI in everyday life.
