Engaging students is no easy task, but innovative teaching methods can be powerful tools to spark
motivation and enhance learning. Backed by recent studies and research, educators today have access to a wide range of approaches that can enrich the classroom experience. Project-based learning, non-formal education, outdoor education, and ICT are just some of the many strategies that can be seamlessly integrated with traditional methods to create dynamic and inspiring learning environments.
The new edition of the course “Innovative teaching methods for teachers, school and adult education staff​” took place in Tenerife from22/06/2025 to 28/06/2025. The participants came from all across Europe, with Laurence from Lycee Hotelier de la Rochelle in France, Carlos from Escola Profissional de Agricultura e Desenvolvimento Rural de Ponte de Lima in Portugal, Klaudia and Maria from Zespół Szkolno Przedszkolny w Raciechowicach in Poland, Jaroslaw from Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, Christelle and Nathalie from Collège Jean Rostand in France, Carmen, Sabina, Claudio, Gabriella and Domenica from Don Milani in Italy, and Mariana from Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi in Romania.
Drawing on recent studies and research, educators now have access to a wide range of tools that can be applied in the school environment. Project-Based Learning (PBL), non-formal education, outdoor education,and ICT are just a few examples of approaches that can be blended with traditional teaching methods to enrich learning.

To begin, Project-Based Learning offers students the chance to engage with content in a direct and
meaningful way, starting from a driving question and investigating real-world issues. While exploring theprinciples of PBL, course participants discovered how teamwork, collaboration, and creativity empowerstudents to tackle authentic challenges—encouraging them to think strategically and actively seek solutions from the outset.

On the other hand, visual strategies and team-building games highlighted the effectiveness of Non-FormalEducation. Starting from practical activities, participants explored Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, discovering how it guides learners from reflection to conceptualization and finally to application—placing students at the center of their own learning process.

Using an ICT tool, teachers also took part in a unique treasure hunt that allowed them to explore Bologna while experiencing the potential of Outdoor Education in an engaging and playful way. During the debriefing, participants identified key benefits of Outdoor Education, such as increased motivation and creativity, as well as enhanced psychophysical well-being thanks to contact with nature and reduced stress levels.

The week continued with a focus on integrating ICT into teaching. Participants tested a variety of digital tools, exploring new ways to engage students, assess learning, and present lessons more interactively.

By Friday, the team spirit was so strong that parting felt bittersweet. Yet, the group left inspired and eager to bring their newfound strategies and ideas back to their classrooms. Another week of learning and inspiration came to an end—ready to spark change in schools across different countries.
