English is a “global language” that brings people from different countries together, allowing them to communicate in various areas like business, academic research, fashion, and computers.

Participating in the “Intensive English Language Course for Education Staff,” a diverse group of teachers from various countries and schools embraced the challenge of learning the language. They approached the study with a positive attitude, dedicating maximum effort to each proposed activity.

The new edition of the course took place in Tenerife from 5/11/2023 to 11/11/2023. We had the pleasure to welcome a group composed Ezter and Anna from Lilla Téri Általános Iskola in Hungary, Janusz, Piotr, Sabina from Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących nr 9 w Krakowie in Poland and Lorraine, Amandine and Eurielle from Lycée Hôtelier François Bise in France.

We began by introducing ourselves and talking about how to describe our jobs. We gave the participants some basic words to start with and then focused a lot on the verb “to be.” This verb is important for describing things like age, feelings, nationalities, and more.

To make learning easier, we used games, quizzes, readings, and real-life examples for our assessments and activities.

​During the week, the participants worked on getting better at using English, listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

From the second day, we started each morning by going over what we learned through a quick activity. Learning a language needs practice, so every lesson had lots of exercises and activities.

We learned about grammar, the basics of language, covering topics like prepositions, articles, and important verb tenses. Each lesson is also related to everyday situations. We discovered how to ask and answer questions using the 5W’s, organize daily tasks, and talk about routine activities, hours, and schedules, similar to planning a week. We also explored topics such as weather, clothing, appearance, describing homes, travel, and planning future activities.

The participants bravely took on speaking challenges with excitement. During breaks, they chatted with each other in English, sharing ideas about their schools and countries. The week was really helpful for improving their English quickly. We hope they keep up this positive attitude and continue to enjoy the multicultural environment they created in just one week.
